About Orbit

Orbit is a plain-language reference to the physical geography of the world.

What this site is

Orbit publishes clear, factual profiles of countries. Each profile explains where a country is, what its landforms look like, how its climate behaves, which rivers and coasts shape it, and where its people and major cities are found. The goal is a reference you can read without a geography degree.

How the content is organised

Every country profile follows the same seven-part structure: location, physical geography and landforms, climate and seasons, rivers and coastlines, population and settlement, regions and major cities, and a short set of frequently asked questions. A facts panel at the top of each profile summarises the essentials — continent, capital, area, population, climate type, major landforms, and neighbouring countries or water.

Accuracy

Figures such as area and population are approximate and rounded, based on widely published reference data. We aim for a neutral, factual tone and avoid commentary, travel advice, and health or safety claims. If you spot an error, please write to us and we will review it.
